NSECE includes the NSECE 2012, the NSECE Analytic Support, and the NSECE 2019 studies. NSECE 2012 is a national study of child care supply and demand (implemented in 2012) with special focus on low-income households with children ages birth through age 12-years. A household survey assessed parents’ preferences, needs, and access to child care and early education, and a complementary survey of child care and early education providers (center-based and home-based) in the same geographic areas described the supply of programs available to households. Additionally, the study included a survey of the early care and education workforce serving children birth through age 12 years. The NSECE 2019: The Provider and Workforce Study (to be implemented in 2019) includes the provider and workforce components of the 2012 study, but includes only the listed portion of the home-based providers. The NSECE Analytic Support contract provides support for distribution to qualified researchers and analysts of the levels 2 and 3 restricted data from the 2012 study; conducts analyses of the 2012 data in response to requests from ACF; and, develops resources and provides training on the 2012 public- and restricted-use data for those interested in conducting secondary analyses of those data and other consumers of the data.
